Welsh Trio Mountain men Anonymous construct dark, towering musical edifices with epic overtones. Their music is semi-abstract Gothic swirl of electronica mixed with thudding live and programmed rhythms. Throughout it pulsates with a cool malevolence, to the extent that you can take a track entitled "Dolph Lundgren" seriously. It actually comes pretty close to the Swans' punishment aesthetic, with their austere guitar strumming and avalanches of percussion congealing into a giant swathe of cold, hard volume. The Mountain Men sensurround blasts of Stygian gloom and murky undercurrents just about stop short of forcing a bodily submission out of the listener but it's a close call. Guest vocals from Caroline Ross offer some variation in the ongoing grind but in the end it's the compulsive pull of the group's low end pulse and their climactic sense of drama that makes the strongest impression.

don't think shellshock are likely to put us in any ads without extra ca$h...and frankly they haven't frickin earned the money they have got - probably (hopefully) changing distributors due to their complete bastard uselessness
